The tympanic membrane is a fascinating organ and is quite impressive given its diminutive size. This module aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of tympanic membrane assessment during otoscopy. Not only can accurate assessment provide you with valuable information about the tympanic membrane itself, but it can also reveal much about what is going on in the middle ear. 

Before you begin, we recommend that you have completed The Ear: Anatomy and Physiology module in the Crystal Clear Ears CPD portal to ensure that you have the base level knowledge and understanding of the ear. A brief anatomy overview is also provided within this module.
